In 1981, Paul moved with his family to Hawaii, and worked for the East-West Center and the Bishop Museum. He was the lead author of the award-winning book KAILUA, published seven years ago. For over 30 years he has been interviewing Kailua's long-time residents, and has been for many years the President of the Kailua Historical Society.

Paul regularly writes a column for Hawaii's newsletter for foster parents, which he has been involved with for many years. Paul and his wife Dottie have parented twenty foster children, in addition to their four biological sons, who have provided them with 14 grandchildren.

Paul is also ordained as a pastor in the United Church of Christ, and is Pastor Emeritus of the First Chinese Church of Christ (Honolulu).

Dr. Brennan is returning to Ottawa for a brief visit on the occasion of the 60th class reunion of his graduating class from Ottawa Public High School—the class of 1956. Pastor Marshall Metzger invites everyone to come and hear him speak on Sunday, May 8th.
